A Salute to a Bygone Era

by Stan C. Countz

Modesto's love-affair with the 'fabulous fifties' and the 'turbulent sixties' is re-visited each June during 'Graffiti Summer', a month-long celebration of that bygone era. "It was a simpler time and a slower pace," recalls lyricist and publicist Stan Countz. "It seemed we had less crime and more style and grace. We looked our 'friends' right in the face. We had no use for Youtube, Facebook or Myspace. Tattoos were taboo. Only cowboys cried 'yahoo'. We loved Gomer Pyle and 'Peyton Place'. We were lost on 'Gilligan's Isle' and 'Lost in Space.' -- Back in the Day by Stan C. Countz, Valley Views Productions, copyright 2007, all rights reserved.

So goes the lyrics to a song inspired by that 'bygone era' and written by publisher, producer and poet Stan Countz

  1. What have we lost and what have we gained? Was it worth the cost? Was it worth the pain? Like dusty rose petals without a drop of rain, when the dust finally settles, what will still remain of those hap happy days? Makes you think...
